We teamed up with Doggywalker.com at the Alexandria Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning at the dog watering station and kicked off a holiday donation drive, going on through the end of December. They also sent us home with food, towels, blankets, and other essentials for our dogs and cats awaiting transport! Luna had a blast meeting all the runners and hopes she finds her home soon.
On Thanksgiving Morning, DC PAWS will join our friends at Doggywalker.com to support the 40th Annual Alexandria Turkey Trot at the race’s dog watering station. We’ll be providing hydration and serving up treats to the canine competitors doing the race.
The Turkey Trot will also kick off a holiday dog and cat food drive for our shelter partner pets in Pickens County, SC. Sign up for the race (dogs and strollers are permitted!) and consider coming with a dry or canned dog food donation to bring us at the water stop! We hope to give our shelter partners some holiday cheer this season. The dogs and cats in the kennels don’t need a Thanksgiving feast, but the amount of food they require daily really adds up! Your donation will make a sizable difference to giving them much needed resources.
Can’t make the run but still want to donate to the drive? Doggywalker.com will continue to accept donations through the end of December at their Del Ray office, located at 202 E. Custis Ave, Alexandria VA.

- Dry Cat and Kitten Food
- Canned Dog or Cat Food
